Scholarships 2022/2023

• Siskiyou County Cattlewomen Scholarship: Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded. One to a graduating senior who will be entering into an agriculture related program in college. The other scholarship will be open to any student entering college regardless of major. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Busby

• Siskiyou Women in Business. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Yreka High School senior female with the intended plan to pursue further education in the field of business, economics, or entrepreneurship. Pick up an application from Mrs. Busby

• Siskiyou County Museum will be awarding $500 to a Siskiyou County High School Senior interested in history, and/or volunteerism.  Students with a GPA of 2.8 or above, a strong leader,  who plans to attend a junior college, four-year college or vocational school in the Fall of 2023.  See Mrs. Busby for application details.  Must be delivered to the Museum by April 1, 2023.

• Fairchild Medical Center Yreka Guild - Eunice Adams Scholarship: Students must plan on a career in a branch of the medical field, have a 2.0 or higher GPA, and must be a full time student in the fall. Pick up an application from Mrs. Busby

• Gamma Omicron Master:  A $1000 award will be given to a female student from Yreka, Discovery, Scott River, Mattole Valley and/or Etna HS. Students must have 30 hours of documented volunteer experience during final 3 years of HS. Pick up an application from Mrs. Busby

• Top of the State Backcountry Horseman of California Scholarship: A $1000 scholarship will be awarded a student planning on a career study in the field of agriculture or natural resources. 2.0 GPA is required. Pick up an application from Mrs. Busby or on line at http://www.bchc-tos.com/forms.html

• Miner Power Scholarship: Awarding $1000 scholarships to athletes and Club Members. Example - Art Club, Drama Club, etc. Applicants must be a graduating senior from Yreka HS and plans to continue their education in the fall to a junior college, college, university, or trade school. Students must be at YHS for at least two years and have minimum of GPA of 2.0. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Busby

• Soroptimist International of Yreka Scholarships: There are two different scholarships available. Both are awarding $1000. 1) $500 Academic scholarship for YHS students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have a goal of earning a academic degree. 2) $500 Vocational Scholarship for YHS students who have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have a goal of earning a credential license or certification. • Siskiyou County Veterans Leadership Council Scholarship: A $500 award will be given to an applicant who plans on attending a 2-year, 4-year, or tech/voc school this fall. Applicants must be the legal child or grandchild of an active duty member or honorably discharged veteran of any branch of the US Military. See Mrs. Busby for an application

Big Springs Community Club Scholarship and Bernice Machado Memorial Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to a student who resides in Big Springs Elementary School District or who graduated from Big Springs Elementary School. • The Pastel Society of the West Coast                                                                                   $2000 Art Scholarships for 2023 Eligibility and Application Process: • The successful candidate should be planning to pursue a career in art • Must be a high school senior, or college freshman, sophomore, or junior enrolled in a junior or four-year accredited college or university with enrollment in an art class. • Must submit hand drawn or painted, original artwork created by the student (no photography or digital work accepted) • Must be recommended by an art teacher, counselor or PSWC member • Must submit the online application, an artist statement and a portfolio of work as described on the PSWC website by April 15, 2023 https://pswc.ws/art-scholarship

• State Unit of Backcountry Horseman is offering a $1,000 scholarship to any vocational or academic student seeking an agriculture or natural resource education. The application can be downloaded at www.bchc-tos.com/forms.html website. The completed application along with the appropriate information attached must be postmarked by April15, 2023 and mailed to TOS-BCHC, PO Box 461, Etna, CA 96027. • The Shasta Head Start Scholarship (previously known as the Eva Johnson Memorial Scholarship) is a $1,000 scholarship made possible by the generosity of Cornerstone Bank. Each year it is awarded to a high school senior who is an alumnus of a Head Start Preschool Program for continuing education, i.e., community college, state college, university or vocational school. I have attached the scholarship application and instructions to this email, but they can also be found at https://shastaheadstart.org/memorial-scholarship-fund-2023/. This year the scholarship is due on Friday, April 21^st, 2023 at 5pm. 

 

• Sierra-Cascade Logging Scholarship: $500-$3000 awards given to students who plan on continuing their education at a community college, state college or university, or trade school for the areas of agriculture, natural resources, industrial technology (welding, diesel mechanics, ) or a related field. Preference will be given to students who have been active in FFA. An overall GPA of 2.0 is required. See Mrs. Busby for an application.                 DUE APRIL 23, 2023 

 

• American Legion Post 122 Scholarship: A $500 award will be given to an applicant who plans on attending a 2-year, 4-year, or tech/voc school this fall. Applicants must also have at least one parent, legal guardian, or grandparent who is on active duty or has been honorably discharged from any branch of the United States military. Applicants must of attend a Siskiyou County HS for 2 years, have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher, must have an interest in hunting and fishing, and must have completed his or her hunter's safety course. • The Tyson Wacker Scholarship Foundation is a local non-profit organization established in the memory of Tyson Wacker, a 16-year-old West Valley High School Varsity football player killed in a car accident on October 22, 2018.  The foundation seeks to provide Student Athletes the ability to succeed in both athletics and life.   Our goal is to provide multiple scholarships to eligible graduating seniors year after year.  Helping them live because Tyson Couldn’t. Applicants must be: Current Graduating Seniors from a high school in the following counties: Tehama, Shasta, Trinity, Siskiyou, Lassen. Carry a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must have participated in ANY high school sport within the four years of attendance (this could be one season of any sport in which your high school offered) Applicants must include all requested information to be considered for scholarship award.  Please submit application with a current school transcript, a copy of your SAR, a coach’s signature for athletic validation, and applicant signature to: tysonwackermemorialscholarship@gmail.com or Tyson Wacker Scholarship Fund, 20538 Robinson Glen Dr. Cottonwood, Ca 96022.  Applications need to be received by April 30, 2023.
